PRIMITIVE “BLACK BALL” BALLOT BOX

A “Folk Art”, primitively made ballot box in painted pine. English c.1850.
Single drawer with glass handles, bearing the initials CR.
A goodly number of ceramic balls inside the drawer, some still retaining a hint of black, for voting that way!
Well used, with a number of nicks and scrapes, all adding to its charm.
Old honest repairs to the back of the drawer and the moulding to the base at rear ( paint colour slightly redder….like I said..just an honest repair…)
Scratched inscription underneath, not sure if contemporary to box….
